MEKONG'S WINTER MENU + APRES EXPERIENCE
WHISTLER, BC January 30, 2024 - Winter has arrived in Whistler and Mekong, Creekside Village's newest restaurant, celebrates the weekend with a dedicated après menu and early opening time. A revamped dinner menu is also available this season, adding new, elevated signature dishes including seafood and Wagyu steak seasoned with the heartwarming flavours of Thailand.
“It’s been exciting to help launch Mekong these past few months — introducing locals and well-travelled diners alike to an elevated Thai dining experience right here in Whistler," says Chef Angus An, Mekong’s Culinary Director. “And now, with snow season upon us, we’re thrilled to add new winter dishes to our menu and of course, create some exclusive and delicious bites just for après - all great for sharing after a wonderful day on the mountain."
Mekong's dedicated après menu is available only from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Why not cap off a day of mountain adventure by exploring the exciting tastes of Thailand? The Mekong Caesar adds classic Thai flavour to one of Whistler's most popular apres-ski libations with lemongrass-infused vodka, spicy sriracha Clamato, crispy chicharron garnish, and a rim sparkling with Mekong's house spice.
To refuel with some delicious, shareable bites, load the table with steaming bowls of Tom Kha mussels swimming in a hot and sour coconut broth, tender marinated Gia Bing chicken skewers flecked with cilantro and Popcorn Mushrooms, a gluten-free delight covered in crispy turmeric batter and sprinkled with cumin salt. And, of course, après wouldn’t be complete without this Whistler staple - chicken wings. Mekong upgrades the standard with enormous, juicy, perfectly fried wings generously coated in their signature six-spice blend crafted to taste like Tom Yum broth. Explore the après menu here.
One of Mekong's new signature items on the dinner menu is Gaeng Massaman, a richly spiced curry made with tender braised bone-in lamb shank. The aromas of the dry spices coupled with the sweetness of grilled pineapple has made this one of the most popular curries at Mekong already. Explore the dinner menu here.
Mekong opened its doors in Creekside Village on July 1, 2023, quickly becoming a favourite restaurant for locals and Whistler’s guests. Infinity Group, the operators of Mekong, is proud to have two of its businesses placed in the top three of Whistler's "Best New Businesses" in Pique Newsmagazine's "Best of Whistler" issue in December 2023. Rockit Coffee Co. placed in the No. 1 spot, while Mekong took the No. 3 position. Mekong also impressed Vancouver Sun's food critic, who included it in her December 2023 round-up "12 of Vancouver's Best New Restaurants of 2023," and listed the Gaeng Gari chicken in her story "The best restaurant dishes of 2023," published in January 2024.
